NIH Expertise

1:1

Our goal with a grantee is not to improve a single submission but to improve our client’s skills as a grantee, reviewer, and mentor on all grant submissions going forward.

NIH Grantwriting Program

We work with universities and academic medical centers to mentor faculty in NIH grantwriting in the K and R Series.

The NIH Grantwriting Program is a comprehensive, multi-modal approach to give grantees the best chance of landing an NIH K or R grant.

This approach includes:

  • 1:1 mentoring, emphasizing preparatory steps before writing
  • Line-by-line editing of Specific Aims page, Research Strategy, and Biosketch; if applicable, Introduction, Candidate Section
  • Two full years of access to select virtual grantwriting courses, packed with templates and samples from recent successful applications
  • Step-by-step instructions and checklists, with progress tracked in a learning management system
  • Reminders and interim deadlines to help pace grantees to deadline
  • Access to every other week live member Q & A with Dr. Bouvier and colleagues
  • After the review, a discussion of Summary Statements and next steps, and edit to Introduction to the Revised Application
Editing and Advising

Contracting: We contract with universities and academic medical centers on behalf of groups of K/R grantees, or for large-format submissions. We do not contract with individuals. For details on contracting with our company, click here.

Large-Format Submissions

We draw upon our extensive experience and success on large-format submissions to offer you an edge over the competition. We provide comprehensive feedback on large-format P and U submissions, which are “written by committee.” Here are some of the most common ways we support a submission:

Identify Problem Areas

We base this assessment on information gathered from reading many Summary Statements for large submissions.

Make the Project a Synergistic Whole

We can help smooth the seams as you cobble together a document written by many and help make the submission stand out to reviewers and program staff.

Locate Gaps in Logic and Ensure You Are Addressing the FOA

It can become easy to lose sight of the obvious when you are lost in the details of writing these behemoths, especially on tight deadlines (and when are we not on tight deadlines?).

Align Sections With One Another

For example, is the Overview section consistent with the write-ups for the Admin Core, Research Cores, and Training Core?
