A few months ago, we told you about several changes coming to NIH in 2025. One of those is the transition to using the Common Forms for Biographical Sketches and Other Support.
NIH released new information related to the adoption of the Common Forms for Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending (Other) Support. The forms must be used with all applications and Research Performance Progress Report(s) (RPPRs) effective May 25, 2025. We have more information regarding deadlines for implementation below.
- The new Biographical sketch must be completed in SciENcv.
- Instructions for completing the biographical sketch form are here. NIH will release NIH-specific instructions for the Common Forms soon.
- NIH plans to continue collecting three required agency-specific data elements (i.e., Personal Statement, Contributions to Science, and Honors) to assess qualifications. NIH is adding a new NIH Biographical Sketch Supplement to collect this information. NIH will release more information about new fields soon.
- NIH will require all Senior/Key Personnel to link their ORCID ID to their eRA Commons Personal Profile. You can find instructions on how to do that here.
- For application due dates or RPPR submissions on or before May 24, 2025 use the existing biographical sketch form. For due dates on or after May 25, 2025, use the Common Forms (i.e., Biographical Sketch, Current and Pending (Other) Support) and NIH Biographical Sketch Supplement.
We’ll continue to share information as it’s released.
