NIH released its 2023-2027 Strategic Plan for Diversity, Inclusion, Equity, and Accessibility (DEIA). The plan is in keeping with NIH’s strategic plan and White House initiatives. NIH’s plan has three main objectives:
- Operations: Grow and Sustain DEIA Through Structural and Cultural Change. Emphasizes NIH’s commitment to public accountability and earning the community’s confidence in NIH’s activities and progress.
- Workforce: Implement Organizational Practices to Center and Prioritize DEIA in the Workforce. NIH discusses its commitment to fund a broad range of organizations to address the nation’s biomedical and behavioral research needs.
- Research: Advance DEIA Through Research. Goals include reviewing current inclusion policies and practices as well as developing resources to advance inclusion of underrepresented and underserved groups in NIH’s areas of supported clinical research.
