I found this course especially valuable for those of us who have never served as reviewers for an R01 study section. Understanding the importance of considering reviewers’ fatigued eyes, as they evaluate numerous grants within limited timeframes, is invaluable. This course emphasizes the need of taking extra steps to ensure clarity and assist reviewers. Dr. Bouvier’s tips and styles on writing organization, which allow reviewers to quickly grasp the key points of a proposal, were particularly enlightening. I highly recommend this course to senior postdocs and Project Scientists in preparation for their transition to independence.

The Boot Camp to Master R series I attended was incredibly valuable—probably one of the most important courses I’ve taken throughout my research career. It was also the only one that truly teaches how to survive in the research world. Every researcher needs a course like this, because we’re rarely trained in one of the most essential skills: how to seek funding to do our science.

Meg Bouvier's live lecture series helped me focus on one section at a time to develop my grant. She provides an in-depth understanding of the NIH structure, institutes, communication with POs, and how to build scientific relationships with people at the NIH. This series is amazing!

I am a research development specialist with a PhD in the earth sciences (so in other words - not an NIH scientist by any means!).
